Applications for the pilot — a direct-cash assistance program that will support 5,000 low-income Chicago households with $500 per month for 1 year — opened Monday and will remain open for a three-week period. Here’s how the program works, how to apply, and dates and deadlines to pay attention to. When Do Applications for the Program Open? The application process for the program is currently open. It opened April 25 at 9 a.m. When is the Deadline to Apply for the Program? The application period closes May 13 at 11:59 p.m. Residents can apply at any point during that period. Residents must apply no later than May 13 at 11:59 p.m. in order to be considered. All applicants will be informed of their status by the end of May. How do I Apply For it? According to the city of Chicago, the application is expected to take 20-30 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Arabic, Polish, and Filipino. All applications must be submitted by the deadline in order to be considered for the lottery.   Applications will be asked to submit documents that provide identity, documents that prove your identity, date of birth, current residence in Chicago, and total household income.
